Amstrad PPC640D Portable Personal Computer

The Amstrad PPC640D is a luggable computer produced by Amstrad. It, along with the PPC512, were Amstrads first IBM PC clone computers. The QWERTY-style keyboard folds out of the top of the unit, and protects the supertwist LCD display when closed (said display can be folded down in order to close the keyboard into the chassis). On the right side is space for one or two 720K, 3.5" floppy diskette drives (640S has one drive, 640D has two) above the carrying handle, while the back has ports for power input, external CGA video, serial and parallel, an expansion bus slot, and jacks for a modem and phone line passthrough. On the bottom is a plastic cover protecting the battery compartment for powering the unit away from a wall socket.
